I have a stock non overclocked gigabyte 6600 gt. My card idles about 60 and loads 85. Is this safe? The temps seam high,

That is a very high temp, check the fan and see if it is working properly, there could be dust in the fan slowing it down. Take the card out use a can of compressed air and blow it on the fan so it can remove any dust particles that might be in there.

GPU's can take around 100C then at like 120C fry, i say go buy an VF-700 from newegg around 25 dollars to lower your temps

your temps are actually normal for a stock heatsink on that card or any higher end card for that matter.

These newer cards definitely put out some heat, but like PZero said they can handle it unlike CPUs....buut yeah, to increase the life of your card it definitely couldn't hurt to get yourself some aftermarket cooling

Im looking at the zalman VF700-Cu
... but it may not be compatable with my card... any other good coolers for my card. Its a gigabyte 6600 gt agp.
