1500+ Athlon XP dead?

Well i found a mod for Athlon XP processors to turn them into MP processors easily. Well i didnt want to turn my dads 2500+ into an MP w/out knowing what i was doing, so i picked up an old 1500+ XP that was laying around and tested it. Well i took my 3200+ out and put the 1500+ in and put more thermal paste on it and re seated the heat sink and i turned it on and nothig would come up on the screen. I cleared the cmos and still nothing. Well i picked up an old duron and set it in there w/out doing anything and it came right up, put the 1500+ in and nothing. My test cpu dead or what? Thnx in advance.

Hmm....sounds like a good possibility. What did you do to it? What was the 'mod' trick you found that is

Well i didnt do anything to it yet. I was going to but it was dead before i could do anything. But to answer your question i was gonna turn it into an MP procoessor. But it was dead before i could even run it to se if it worked.
