hey all,
so im havinbg a problem with a custommer's pc that is driving me completeley monkey nutz!!! the pc will not install windows. It goes through the install proccess then about 15% into copying files starts "Not able to read file" blah blah blah so i tried a new cd, nothing, tried a new hard drive, nothing, new cd rom, nothing! what else can be the problem?!

What type of cd are they ?
OEM, RETAIL ?
Burnt or the Originals ?

there are 2 parts to an xp install , the text and gui, where does the instal fail ?
try testing the ram, kind of doubt that is the cause

the first 3 i tried were backups, the other 3 were OEMs

the install fails on the text part of the file copy proccess.

make sure the cd's are clean on the bottom, no finger prints, nothing. could be that they are oem and for a certain base model pc, the cd might check yor bios, kind of doubt it , have you tried a retail ver ?
make sure your cdrom and hd are cabled / jumpered correctly. maybe move the cdrom to the second chanell and make both pri.
