INTELCORE 2 DUO E6300
P4 775 INTEL DG965 WH PCIE motherboard
(Those two for $200 Canadian on ebay )
XFX NVidia GeForce 7900GS 7900 GS PCI-E Video Card ($250 on ebay)
Seagate SATA II 320GB HD ($128)
2GB OCZ 800MHZ DDR2 RAM GOLD XTC KIT ($340)
LG DVD+/-RW GSAH22L 18X ($55)
Case with 420W power supply ($75)

Total: About $1050 Canadian for what I think is a pretty good gaming PC. It will be my first time building a PC and I'm still doing the research on how to get it done. Did I miss anything? Any compatibility issues?

IMO, I would lower down the memory and card so that I could afford the E6600. Also what's the RPM on that Seagate, cause I got my WD 320GB 7200RPM for only $90 US. Must be the warranty thing? Are all yor price listed in Canadian?

Yea, and that case I wouldn't trust the PSU that comes on it though.

Yes the prices are in $CAD. 90USD is about 103CAD..its prob not the best price. The Seagate was 7200RPM. I haven't really looked into cases that much but a 420W supply seperate form the case is good?

So you think I might wanna try 1GB RAM instead of 2 to get the E6600? I don't multitask that much anyways so mabye its a good idea.

an E6300 is a good entry into the Conroe world for a beginner. What is your budget? if you want to order online we can help come up with something from Tigerdirect.ca or NCIX.com or another is your have a preferance. I would not suggest ebay for a first time builder, as a few of us have been burned on there... Myself included. but if you can spare yourself the pain of getting a bad part (that you can't return) then by all means do so... maybe something like this:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 - 242.00

Actually I just spoke to the guy with the parts who lives near me. He is somewhat of a supplier/builder working from home.

He's getting me the following:

INTELCORE 2 DUO E6300
P4 775 INTEL DG965 WH PCIE motherboard
Forsa GeForce 7900GS 7900 GS PCI-E Video Card
Seagate SATA II 320GB HD ($128)
2 Maxtor IDE U300 80 GB
2GB OCZ 800MHZ DDR2 RAM GOLD XTC KIT
LG DVD+/-RW GSAH22L 18X
Antec case with 350W power supply

For $1300 no tax. He said he build the whole PC with the 2 Maxtors in a RAID 0 for an extra $100. The problem is, I really wanted to try to install the stuff myself. Shold I just let him build it for me because I really want the RAID setup for my gaming. Is it very hard to do for for time builders?
