Ok I am getting the parts to build a gaming computer, and since I am a noob at this I would like to make sure all these things are compatible and that I can maximize my fps in game. Also is this all I need or do I need anything else for this computer. Keep in mind that my budget is about $2000 and thanks for the replies ahead of time.

Get an Intel Core 2 Duo e6600 processor instead. It crushes pretty much anything, except the higher models of the C2D family. Also if you're getting a 8800GTX, you should get a full tower. Chances are it's not going to fit in a mid tower, or it's going to be touching the hard drive cages. Also instead, get the OCZ Gamesxtream 700W power supply. 700W might be too much power, I think this setup can run off a HIPER 580W:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817128002 I don't trust Ultra for power supplies. Do you already have the monitor, mouse, keyboard, optical drive, etc.?
Welcome to TF!

i agree with b1gapl, if you have the cash get the C2D e6600 and a full size case so nothing is squished together or wont fit inside. and the bigger power supply is more opinionated. if you have it, it could save u upgrading in the future.

Ok the
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.40GHz / 4MB Cache / 1066MHz FSB / Dual-Core / OEM / Socket 775 / Processor is $315

while the

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2.20GHz / 1MB Cache / 1000MHz FSB / Socket AM2 / Dual-Core (Windsor) / Processor with Fan is $190

So is the Intel c2d e6600 worth the extra because I know guys who say AMD is much better for gaming

Or get the e6400, which is about $200+. As of right now the C2Ds are the best for gaming. And yes the e6600 is very much worth it.

Ok so what would you recommend in terms of memory and motherboards etc. if I switched to intel processor?
