I have a few extra harddrives and i know that they store data thru magnetism and stuff, and that magnets will mess them up. So is it safe to have 2 harddrives, one sitting on top of the other? I have 3 3.5 hdds and a laptop hdd sitting on top of each other currently. I hadnt thought anything of this untill i put my kingston flash drive on top of the laptop hdd that was on my desk at the time. when i tried to take it off, i felt that the flash drive was attracted to the hdd. So i want to know if having a hard drive too close to another hard drive, or PC chip can damage them.

I think it takes a stronger magnet than the magnets on the HDD's to screw them up.

yea. i have had all 3 of my hdd's on top each other for a while now, like 3 years, never had a problem (except my maxtor went out, so i bought a western digital)

On my old computer I've had 2 hard drives sitting on eachother, never had a problem with them.
