I have had the pleasure of finding out I'll be getting the Dell 2407 24" monitor for xmas. I have a fairly old rig in terms of all the new SLI and dual core stuff going on nowadays. I have an agp ATI x850 Pro on 256MB, with a 1-year old 3.2GHz P4. Now I've been reading that the x850 can handle a big display like that for desktop stuff, but it tends to overheat and crash during games.
Is this true? And if so, is there any way to overclock or give it some extra juice? I really can't afford a new GC right now, in fact I'm happy I'm getting the monitor alone, my old CRT was turning fast. What would be the cheapest thing I could upgrade to (either AGP or PCIE, I have dual on my mobo) for my performance to increase?
