The subject says it all really. Basically I'm getting myself a near christmas present of an upgrade to dual core and maybe some other stuff (I'm rich for now ;) ) I was going to get an OEM X2 4400, but i later saw and was told about the 89w version. Now that I've looked around I saw a 170 opty for around the same price too(yay!). Anyways help me decide which of the two to get.

by the way, what's the 89w part mean? Lower power always, or just cool n quiet on steriods?

I think the opteron would overclock more than the X2 4400+? All I know is that the optys are good overclockers. The 89W means that it consumes less power than the old 110W version of the X2 4400+.

go for the opteron they are the kings of 939 imo

Thats what I'm leaning towards... look at my sig ;) ;) . I got mine to 2.8 my first time on stock cooling! I didn't stay there long because it made me nervous, but pretty much I sit at 2.6-7 whenever my room is cool.

I need some real info one the 89w thing though. First off how do you lower power useage without changing the architure? Really just in general if someone know something about those, post it up.

I would also get the opteron, I will be shooting for a 170 or 175 when I get the money. Or who knows I might just get a new mobo and a e6300.
