Hello!

I got a Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale"

Two questions:

What's that programme that stresses your CPU to check for stability?

And what's a safe idle temperature for the E6300 ?

The temp will really depend on the type of fan you use and the air flow thru the case, But I would say an idle temp around 28 - 34ish should be expected with normal cooling.

As a side note, my PC idles at 24, but its in a colder corner of the room.

I'm not having a good time... Can't take it over 2.45ghz and it took alot of volts to get it there.

Under load the temp rises to around 50c - is that excessive?

If you can't take it over 2.45 it sounds like you have DDR2667 RAM, which if you really want to go higher you'll need 800 RAM. 50c isn't excessive either, don't worry about it unless you get near 65-70c, I believe 70c is the default cutoff that's set in your BIOS, then it'll start lowering the clock frequencies. Mine isnt even OCed and I'm running 41-42 idle, then get around 50 under load, it really isn't a big deal.
