If you've got that kind of dough to toss around, sure. But I wouldn't.

While the 8800 is the current 1000 pound gorilla, it's still big and hot and power-hungry. While it is the first DX10 card, DX10 ain't out yet... and neither are decent Vista drivers.

As for me, I'd look at a X1950XTX, a 7900GT, 7900GS, or a 7950GT if I were going for high-end.

k thx. im going 2 some computer expo right now to get all the parts. you were a real help. thank you

sorry reaper but just wanted to ask something. Will the 8800 go down in price sometime soon like january/febuary? if so how much less? Which brand should i go with? Bfg or Evga?

Nvidia is supposed to be coming out with a couple of scaled down versions of the 8800 early in '07.

well yea. i went to the thing and i got everything except for RAM and a hard drive (on purpose cause i heard it was best to buy it from some other place) but when i get it all hooked up ill take some pics of it and post everything i got (a lot of it wasnt what i had in mind but still OK i heard) so you all can see how it turned out.
