radeon 9800XT

i sure do hope i am at right place for this question, if not sorry.

well i went and got myself one of these here 9800xts and in the
display properties under the overdrive tab , its got current temperture 70c.

is this alright? is this the video card temp? how high can it go before it messes up this 500.00 video card?

hope some of you fine fellows can help this old man out.

oh i got: 500w power supply
asus P4C800E deluxe MB
WD 80GB SATA 150 7200rpm 8M x2
intel P-4 800 3.0GB 1MB cache
ATI radeon 9800XT
sound blaster audigy 2Z
windows XP home edition

What do u mean by the 70"C????
Processor temp???Already burn or shutdown if reach this temp.
Motherboard temp???
Graphic card temp???How do u know the temp?
Pls state cleary.
Did u check the BIOS???

thanks for your reply. i was talking about my video card (9800XT), it gets up to 70 degrees celius sometimes.
is this to hot?

No worries harley88, my 9800 xt is @ 70C right now, and i'm idling. The card just had really bad cooling, I've pushed my overclock pretty far but now it's just back to stock temps until I get water cooling or something. The connection from the die to the heatsink isn't flush so the die can't transfer all of the heat properly. This is the main cause of the high temps, other than the fact that it's the same chip, but ati is pushing it harder. End result, really no worries about that temp.

I have mine watercooled now, itÂ’s definitely the way forward, bloody thing was turning my case into an oven.

yea no worries harley, again you'll be fine most likely unless your card hits like 78c and up i'd really be worried, but apparently that's just the temp that the card runs at

PS: Sure would like to find someone that actullay has a X super alien case. i am having problems getting the two front fans pluged up, cannt get to them.
case
