Hey guys...I finally got some money saved up for a C2D. I'm only getting the proc, mobo, and ram because I'm using the other parts from the other system in my sig. These are the parts I chose:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz 2M sharing L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819115005

ASUS P5N-E SLI Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131142

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820145034

Some questions:
How much of a performance difference can I expect from this upgrade. I know the obvious answer, but will it be like day and night? Also is the 650i a good chipset? I think it's like a stripped down version of the 680i. Nice price too. And is that ram, good for overclocking? I plan on ocing this baby. Also is my power supply sufficient enough? Here is my PSU, from my sig:

Thanks in advance for your replies. I'm so EXCITED!!!

heres a guy who just got his and it seems to oc as good as a p5b-deluxe. I say the only down side is x8 x8 sli, and hopefully it won't be as buggy as some of the 680i boards, but its a asus so i would expect a little more quality ;).

Rams good and of course the cpu it good :p.

Oh heres anandtech take on the 600i series. Sry havn't had time to read it yet...prob going to tomorrow though.

I don't think I'm going to be SLIing. What about the power supply? Sufficient enough to run e6300, 2gb ram, 7600gt, couple of HDs, etc.?
And any other comments? Thanks...

remember trieclipse's sticky , he even uses the psu you have. I would say your good to go even if you decided to get a 8800gtx down the road.

But why get a sli mobo if your not going to sli?

Your power supply should be sufficient (probably more than sufficient). And the article that darkopt16 posted is very impressive reading. Essentially stated in the article: the 680i board is their choice for C2D. Read the article - there may be features that you might want in the future, which may lead you to investing in this board.

Oh the reason I picked that mobo, even though I wasn't going SLI, is that I didn't see the one with one PCI-e slot. And that was the cheapest out of the nforce 6 series from newegg.com....I think the one with one PCI-e is called the 650i Ultra. Wow I didn't know my PSU was that GOOD...even to handle an 8800GTX. Thanks for that article on PSUs.

ive never tried ebay out...so no help there sry :p. I like how he says "SUPER FAST!"....hes not kidding there especially when you oc it. If you were to bid though, you'd only be saving $49 compared to a new one (i don't know how shipping works with ebay, so I didn't include shipping prices).

I've used eBay. However, I tend to lose the actual auctions because of being outbid in the last few seconds. :) My guess is that with the number of bids so far, there will be more bidding as the end time nears. So as darkop16 points out, you may not be saving that much in the end.

lol yea I'm usually outbidded at the end. So I decided not to go for it anymore.
