How can I disable Clear Type?

I just downloaded IE7 and it asked me if I wanted to turn Clear Type on. So I said yes and choose the font I liked best. Well this Clear Type is messing with everything. Now all my icons on the desktop have shadows and I cant barely read the names of the icons. And the text in IE is harder to read now. So how to I turn Clear Type off?

If you do not like ClearType text rendering on your monitor, you just need to use the option in the Internet Control Panel to turn it off. Simply uncheck the box. Open the Advanced Tab, go to mulimedia, uncheck Always use cleartype

Why are font settings in the internet control panel?

Cuz its part of IE, thats why its in the Internet Options
