weird things going on.. lost themes. now lost sounds..

Hi guys


I am going through some really weird problems lately with my PC..

i didnt do any reconfiguration, system updates, etc.. nothing.

just all of a sudden i noticed that my xp style was set to classic mode.. and couldnt get it to load the luna styles beacuse the service wasnt running..

looked at my services list, and COULDNT FIND THE THEMES service.. so i recreated the service.. and now i can see it in my services list.. and started it.. everything was fine..


decided to reboot...

now i have no sound.. drivers are all fine but there's just no sound.. i could adjust the audio settings in the CP either because it's all greyed out...

checked out my services, and the Windows Audio Service is missing now.

how weird is that?

could this be a virus or something?? i've got the latest kaspersky with the latest defs.. nothing found..

i also know how to check manually.. in the startup entries, etc.. and in the detailed process list .. couldnt find anything out of the ordinary..


what do you guys think about this?

yes, sounds like a virus... try spybot search and destroy
