ground yourself

I am about to put together my new computer, but want to b safe first...

How do i ground myself without a proper wrist band/strap?

Stand on a non carpeted floor, touch something other than the PC to discharge yourself, then try to stay in contact with the case to prevent static buildup. If you use a non conductive table surface and floor you probably won't have any problems anyway after you discharge any static.

what do they mean ...
and what is the easiest way i. e. to ground yourself?

use a antistatic bracelet or antistatic mat, i use a bracelet and antistatic gloves

Work on a carpet'ed surface while wearing socks. Make sure to move your feet against the carpet very quickly while working.

Kidding asdie. Working on a hard surface (non-cloth). Wear rubber sole'ed shoes and touch some kind of metal surface before you start. I've been modding computers for a while now and have yet to have any problems. Most importantly, just be smart.

I have a lamp nearby my work area....can i touch that to be grounded before i start composing my new computer? would a toaster work also?.....lol

when you take the side off the case if its metal touch it that should ground you out or a radiator.

i always just work on my carpet or my wood desk.....never ahd any problems with self grounding, just make sure you ground your Mobo.
