i'm kinda late on this one, but this is so cool. DVD9 format can fit 8GB on ONE side of a DVD disc. they do this by using DL dual layers. you do not need to buy any DVD backup software. all you need to do is just decrypt the movie and burn it straight to a blank DVD9 disc. no compression or splitting is need so you get ZERO quality loss, it will be exactly the same as the original discs. you are only allowed to make backups of movies you own though so don't get crazy with it.

here's one model that's out from NEC sweet!!!:

here's one from BenQ:

It was only a matter of time before DL became a consumer thought. Now the regular SL will ultimately be cheaper!!!

soon we'll have 12gb disks lol sweet!!
can just imagine where u can update ur hardware from a software update lol

well maybe not 12GB. i'm getting the DVD9 burners when they hit stores, but i'm still waiting for the day they have 50 terrabyte drives that i can plug straight into the back of my head. i might want to get 2 of those because they'll have pr0n in 3D by then.....Mmm 3D pr0n
