Desktop taking forever to pop up.

I have an Acer latop that the desktop takes at least 1 min to pop up when you log on. Sometimes up to 5 min. It's a relatively new comp, maybe 5 months. It doesn't have any screensavers or backgrounds installed. What can I look at to speed it up?

what does msconfig>startup look like?

If it were my I'd disable alla that cept for the antivirus.

Well, I'll disable everything but the AV and STMonitor. <--that's my monitoring software. I'll report back soon.

OK, I disabled everything and it's even slower now. ????

hhmmmm..that dont sound right, see what is left in the startup. sometimes if you disable something, another item will startup so check that

then run ccleaner and cleanup!, you can find them in my sig

download msconfig cleanup and use it to delete those entries that are not being used
