hi all,

a friend of mine screwed up the motherboard on his system (compaq 6326se) by installing the wrong kind of memory. It apparently sparked and one of the chips beside the ram sockets looks to be burned. I am trying to get a new board for him so he can have his system up and running and I need some help

the system has this board installed in it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=190061194265&rd=1&rd=1

direct link to specs:

ok now for the question...the motherboard states that it has an "mPGA478" socket for the processor...is that the same as a normal 478 socket?

for example could I install this board and and use the same processor:

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=MB-M963GV&c=pw

^description says P4 Prescott processor...original board says Willamette, Northwood

any help would be greatly appreciated

Quite possibly you may have damaged the processor also. Why not a whole new pc ? build it yourself and save
