SATA 3.0 Gb on a SATA150 board?

I've got a P5GD1 motherboard with SATA150. Will a SATA 3.0 Gb drive work on this motherboard? I'm pretty sure the connector interface is the same. Only thing is that the drive will not operate at 3.0 Gb, which is fine with me.
