OS question

No, stores dont let you return opened disks because of this, if a product is faulty you have to go through the manufacturer.

Can you make a copy, or use another person's Windows XP OS cd and it works for both of them?

NO! Microsoft's piracy protection requires you to register the discs either via modem or telephone. After Product Activation is complete, the XP discs are useless.

Microsoft is very touchy about such matters, all of their new software requires activation and winth certain programs ie: windows it detects your hardware on startup and compares it with the last record it made, if the 2 records are too different windows forces you to reactivate the software

all the above mentioned facts come to play only if you need a orginal xp cd

everything in this world has an alternative.

for example in India about 98% of companies and home computers dont use original softwares.

It's the same in cyprus, Theres no copyright law there so most software is copyed and used, all the games they use in the internet cafe r all copies, these r titles like gta vice city!

when you buy windows XP software, you are really buying the licensing agreement and serial number(product key number). Besides allowing you to load the OS the disk themselves are really useless.

i realize this is not a warez forum nor am i condoning it but why go thru the hassle of goin to the store, buying it and then having them put u thru shit when u try to return when its all readily available online to dload, like full windows cds images and serials.

Or taking advantage of the fact that your college can hand out copies of Win XP (or any other OS) because of an educational license:)

Its free AND legal.
