I'm planning on getting an external harddrive to accomodate my laptop. Ive read before that FireWire is faster than USB but i also read that USB 2.0 is faster than firewire.
Which one transfers files faster, does anyone know?

In theory the speeds are:
------------------------------------------
12 Mbps-Universal Serial Bus (USB)
400 Mbps-FireWire (IEEE 1394A)
480 Mbps-USB 2.0
800 Mbps-FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394B)
-------------------------------------------
Personally I would go for a USB 2.0 external hard drive, because most computers don't support Firewire 800.

so if a newer external harddrive came with a firewire im assuming it would most likely be IEEE 1394B.. right?
