ok well i made a thread about getting a laptop and learned alittle(not much) so i narrowed down the selections through some research and educated guess's :) so here's what i got so far i rulled out a few company's alienware and voodoo due to overpriceing and ive ruled out gateway and dell through bad customer service/unreliable alot of complaints so there's not alot left i can choose from so ive decided Hp i think( lemme know if there's anything else i should look into)
right now im just thinking 15'' or 17'' screen

15.4'' Hp Laptop dv6000t

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)

15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)

256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400

HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam

1024MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer

Around 1300$$

OR

17'' Hp laptop dv9000t

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)

17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1680x1050) <-- ? not sure about this one
512MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600 <--- overkill ?

HP Imprint Finish/Microphone/Webcam

1024MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)

200GB 5400RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (100GB x 2)

LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer

around 1700$$

i put side note's next to the things i wasnt sure about these are the best choise's i could find any opinion's are aprriciated
other then that i just wanna consider portability/performance ratio's which outdoes the other i dont car about weight but it would be a b**** to carry around a big *** laptop

main diffrence's summary :
15''---> 17''
160 hd ----> 200 hd <-- 2nd
256 Gc ----> 512 Gc <-- main

same proccesor and same memory i think 1gb should be good ?

any and all help appriciated anyone who looks at this post your opinion (as long as your not an idiot) i need as much help as i can get i dont wanna go buy a laptop untill i am confident in my dissision

I'm using a HP DV8000 with GeForce 7600 and 1Gb RAM and widescreen (with keypad!) and I love it!

what size sreen/ is it easy to carry around ? ( im assuming its a 17)

Edit: i wasnt aware there was a 8000 ?

The 8000 series is the older model before HP started using that shiny silver finish. Personally I went for the 15" screen, still pretty good size, much easier to carry around, more battery life, etc. If I had a heavier notebook there's no way I could bring it to school or would even want to carry it around with me. But since my 15" keeps my laptop's weight at around 6 lbs I hardly feel it in my backpack.
