Shut down options XP

My shut down buttons went away and a box with drop down replaced it, I also have to log on where before I just had to turn on the PC.

Where is this setting located?

This happened after I played with network settings when I tried a xover cable from a dreambox.

Sys restore put it back, but I would like to know where I could have changed it back myself.
