My current PC is over 5 years old and I want to upgrade. This is what I plan on getting:

(Note: The prices are in Australian dollar.)

Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-S3 Conroe $169
CPU: Intel D 945 3.4G $229
RAM: 1G Samsung DDR2 667 $145
HDD: Seagate SATA 250G $103
Video Card: 256MB 7600GS Leadtek $144
DVD-RW: Pioneer 111D Black $45
Case: Thermaltake Soprano $125
Monitor: 19” Benq FP91G-8ms $285
Floppy: 1.44M Floppy Disk Drive Black $15
Keyboard and Mouse: MS Retail Cordless Desktop 700 $43
PSU: Antec 500W Smart Power 2 $111

TOTAL: AU$1414 (US$1111)

Will this PC be able to run Vista?
Is it a good PC considering the price tag?
Do you recommend any changes?

Thanks

You want brutal, or gentle?

It does it's job, but don't expect much out of new games.

3.

I would rate the PC at 3.2.

It needs improvement.

Processor should be Core 2 Duo or Athlon 64, not Pentium D.

Memory should be doubled.

Video card could be better as well.

But still, my PC, which has integrated video and 1.2GB RAM runs Vista pretty well, but once you TRY loading a game, it just lags. The PC that you stated will run Vista, but not be able to game with Vista.

Be careful with products from Samsung. They may be cheap but they aren't of the best quality either. Contrary to popular belief, Samsung is neither Chinese, Japanese, American, or European.

Apart from a few memory modifications, it should run Windows Vista pretty well.

Nice PC, but if ur not planning on running vista i'd give it a 7, i was planning on getting the same video card listed here, and i was wondering if it supported aero! CUz i bought a radeon 9250 cuz its 256mb ram and thought it supported it but boy was i wrong, it said something about pixel shader and 32 bits per pixel.......
