Higher end (not too expensive) rig for christmas

is opty 165 route still a pretty decent high end route? I havent been up to date lately at all with computer stuff, and is 7600gt still the best budget buy out there for bang-for-buck?

Price range is <not sure> im not sure what parents want to spend on me this year, but its my main "want"

im guessing they want to spend $200-$700 on me, and they likely wouldnt be buying all the parts, just some. probably processor/mobo/ram/vid card.

Recommend? good high end?

Go conroe. It's only another 30 bucks but can obliterate any AMD with a little overclocking.

okay in todays cpu's you will have to stop paying attention to ghz and more to l2 cache. stuff per clock and best of all benchmarks.
