Hi, i want to sell my laptop but i dont want the person who is going to buy it to find out all my passwords id and everything by retracing it all somehow. How do you make everything on your hard drive untracable???

or eraser, or as I understand it, reinstall windows with a full format. Same thing. (eraser does what killdisc does, only you can use it on unused discspace without losing any data. sorry if formatting isn't the same thing, but I'm pretty sure it is. http://sourceforge.net/projects/eraser)

Formatting is not a secure way to erase data on a hard drive. All formatting does is set up the file system again.

Use Powermax. I've heard some people saying that it meets the government standard, meaning that it erases data as securely as the government does for their hard drives.

Oh, you want to keep the drive intact.... Nvm.. :D

if you want to be completely untracebla then burn your hard drive and break it into little bits and then eat it, but you want to keep it so just use dban and any other boot dirk eraser and sue them all, you cant really do any better, formatting doesnt do anything, just mask it but bootable dban is great does like 3 passes very good.
