What is the highest a processor can run b4 melting?

I have an AMD 64 3200+ and it runs anywhere from 40-52 C

Also the CPU fan kicks on and off...kind of unnerving is there a manual override to keep the fan on at all times?

yay i found it in the bios

its called Q-fan control

turned it off and my CPU sits at about 35 C at idle now

AMD 64/FX meltdown temp is 80C. Athlons XP's are 85C. Yes...Q-Fan is a throttling fan option..were by it increases RPM when the CPU is under heavy load..and decreases when it's not.

80C is really hot...like what 160F?

Q-Fan is a waste unless you are REALLY concerned with noise.

The CPU fan that came with the CPU is not even loud anyways

(C x 1.8)+32=F
(80 x 1.8)+32=176 degrees F
