Server Build

Would it be possisble to turn my computer into a server? I'm just curious to whether it would work not. Here are the system stats:

IBM 15GB IDE HDD
Pentium 3 CPU
256 MB RAM
Wireless LAN

Is there any other specs that you need? Also, is it possible that I can use it as a computer and a server? Thanks for the help.

I don't know much about servers but I bought one not too long ago. It depends on what you're running off your server, you can use any ordinary computer as a "server" those are pretty good specs for a server, what do you plan on using it for? And if you're asking if you can use a computer and a server in the same house I don't see why not?

I currently have windows xp, could I use that, or will i have to change to windows 2000 or windows 2000/2003 server.

2000=OK, unless you want a webserver.
2003=A tad out of league for that thing.

Linux=best choice.

I got appserv installed on windows xp. So how do i install and make a php forum? and how do i host unreal tourny games on the server?
