My brother wants me to build him a computer for his living room, he said he wants to spend around $300. He wants something he can listen to his music in the living room. He wont need a big hard drive because he will be playing it from his other pc through his network, but the hard part is staying close or under 300.

Go to walmart and buy a compaq prebuilt, Last time I checked they had ones for exactly 300, without a monitor.

Yeah, Prebuilt is the way to go for something that simple that you won't need alot from.
