Need help

I recently changed something on my computer that everytime I try and open any program it opens with word.
I know I did something stupid,But I cant figure out how to repair please help

I would simply do a system restore to a day when this was not happening if the OS is Windows XP. You will not lose any data it will simply revert major changes to the OS such as that.

Open my computer, click tools, file types. Then you can change what opens files.

And if you'd rather not do that for some reason, it's the file associations that are wonky and you will need to change them back to their proper associations.
