I have a Giga-byte K8NS Ultra 939 motherboard. It has 4 memory slots. I had 2 512MB Kingston value RAM sticks installed. Everything worked fine. I added two more of the identical sticks (which gives me 2 GB total). At POST it gives one beep and shows the 2GB of RAM then hangs half way through boot up (just before it gets to windows screen). If I take the new memory out it boots just fine.

Any ideas what would cause it to hang with the 4 sticks installed?

maybe a bios setting somewhere that is causing you to have an issue. I would look around in the bios for the ram setting to see if there is something that may extend the ram amount.

I looked through the bios settings and the only thing I could find was a setting under "Intelligent Tweaking" called "DDR voltage control". It gives options of Normal, +0.1v, +0.2v. Mine is set to normal.
