I got $3000.00 CDN to build a computer. I'd like some suggestions on what I can make in the suggested amount I don't mind going over $300. I'd also like some canadian sites I can order off.

So far I got:

well that depends on what you'd be using it for. if you want it for the mobility and gaming at home then build one yourself and get a cheap laptop on the side for like $500 for internet/movies/apps/whatever...

What i'm suggesting is that if you want something to be able to game with a lot of mobility (a gaming laptop that you might take places and game on) then get a similiar laptop (that looks a little expensive and you can get a MUCH better graphics card in a laptop for the same money)

If you can build a computer you'll be able to get a rig up with the same features as that laptop for like $1500-2000 and then you could get a laptop too.

I'd really think about that if i were you.

If you don't really need the mobility of a laptop then definately build cuz laptops cost a lot more for the same performance as desktops you can build.

Also if you'd be interested i'm looking at selling my current laptop as i now have a desktop and don't use it much anymore. if you are interested then PM me. it's a dell inspiron 9200.

I would NOT suggest an E6800

They are the exact same thing as the E6600 and 6700 but just stock clocked a bit higher. You could just bet an swesome mobo for about 250 and some awesome ram and destroy the E6800 and save you some money (about 630 CAD). For a vid card I would deffinatly suggest the 8800GTX or at least the GTS. For ram i would get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145168

There are so many options you can do with 3000 CAD

This is just what i would get personally. there isn't a case picked out either cuz i think that's something you should pick out since you're the one who has to look at it and most cases are just personal preference for looks. Otherwise all the parts just go inside so performance is mostly all that matters.

I'd suggest picking and choosing parts out of this build and making your own part list though to make sure you're getting EXACTLY what you want.

I'm real interested in the specs jordo_99 listed. Now I'd like to know what you guys think should I keep the laptop or go ahead and make the computer listed above. This the laptop cost me roughly $3240cdn and this will cost me roughly $3500cdn but with the laptop I got 3 year warranty included in the price. This will most likely be my last computer while I finish school with only a few upgrades.

I just recently (1 day ago) bought a Toshiba Qosmio G30 (G35=AV660 for America) which cost me 3000 with 3 year warranty. My question is since I am capable of building a computer and so is my older cousin should I go ahead and build 1 or just stick with the laptop. http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/pdet.to?seg=HHO&poid=347885&coid=-30600

Make sure that your case can fit one of those 8800GTXs. I heard some cases dont have enough room.

its X6800 and it doesn't such you could oc the 6600 to 3.4 and then it is dead or you can get the x6800 and oc it to 4.0ghz+ and beat the crap of a 6600 also the X6800 has the oc'ing unlocked so you can pretty do about anything with it except marry it(i wonder if one of those gay churches will let me marry my 6800? Google here i come)
