K KBlair In Runtime Messages 298 Nov 20, 2006 #2 64-bit dual core definitely, since you're a developer, you may need to be able to develop for dual-core, also for 64-bit. Plus they're future-proof. Also, try to go for a Core 2 Duo, they're great for compiling big projects.

If you don't mind using Linux, they're a great choice, but only if you need a large amount of processing power (like for a LARGE server).
