HELP, major comp trubles

hey everyone, I have a question, my comp keeps restarting itself, and once it dose that, it wont start all the way back up, it says disk read error. the only way i can get on the comp is to reinstall windows, I dont really want to keep doing that, any suggestions? thanks.

There is an easy way to eliminate your HDD from the equation. Go to the manufacturers website, and download HDD diagnostic tools, i.e. Maxtors 'Powermax' install it on a floppy disc, or bootable CD, and fire it up. It'll tell you if it's that or not.
