Newbie guide to equipment!!

Hey, I am a total newbie at this stuff but I want to build my own computer.

Just hoping you guys would be willing to tell me which equipment I should buy and why.

I am a tight budget so please help.

First off, read this.

Then you need to answer a few questions:]

1) How tight of a budget? An actual dollar figure makes things easier

2) What will you use your computer for? Gaming, word processing, email, web browsing, overclocking, etc?

3) What, if anything, do you need? Do you already have anything? Or, is there anything you will get locally?

4) What country are you from? This is important for currency and hardware sites.

In reply to your first response, there's nothing specifically I need. Just want a quick pc for a bit of gaming, IMing, Internet etc.

£250 ($472 USD) is enough to build a functional computer, but it certainly isn't going to be a good gamer.

I built the PC in my sig for $630 CAN (about $530US) and I play Company of Heroes and Fear (52 FPS avg) just fine at 1024 by 768 med/high settings.
