When i play games like need for speed most wanted for about 30 minutes on my third build it starts lagging like crazy.

The cpu is 30ºC and the motherboard is 40ºC.

Graphics card
and a maxtor 300gb hard drive, dvd rom drive combo, antec 400 watt power supply, and cd rom drive.

Anybody know why its lagging like that?

yes it does. Need for speed carbon, Counter strike source, and yuri's revenge which are all the games i have and when i get some cash i will get cod2 and other games.

Try updating to the latest drivers and BIOS. If that doesn't do the trick, try running memtest. If there are ANY errors at all, the memory may be the problem.

I also suspect the power supply.

did you hook up power to your Gcard that might be a problem too

and i would check powersupply too like kblair said.

i did the memtester for about 2 hours and it says no errors.
The geforce card i have doesn't need power from the power supply.

so you think its the power supply?

Should i upgrade it then?

I was planning on upgrading it anyway cause for christmas i was planning to get another evga geforce 7600gt for it so i can use sli.

lag is gone. When i had lag i enabled cool and quiet and somebody said to disable it so i did and no more lag for me.

If he didn't hook the Gcard up to the power supply, the PC wouldn't even post, let alone lag after 30 minutes of a racing game.

LOL - yeah, that cool n' quiet junk would do it! Reduces CPU Power - whatever, who would want to do that!?

:) Glad u figured it out!

Just make sure you've got a good CPU fan! Those Tornado fans from TigerDirect are Really Really Good!
