explorer.exe using 99% of CPU

I am having this problem where, after about 10 minutes, explorer.exe start going haywire and uses almost all of my CPU. I've scanned for viruses using symantec, and scanned for ad ware and spyware using ad-aware SE and spybot- searh & destroy. Oh, I have windows XP professional edition. also, I can force quite explorer.exe through the taskmanager, and load it up again as a new task, but the explorer.exe problem shows up again a little later.
 
When you did a scan, did you find any spywares, viruses? If so, the problem might still be there. You need to do more than just ad-aware and spybot to get rid of the nastier ones.
 
nope, didn't find anything, and explorer still screws up

can anyone esle help me here, I hate this stupid thing. I was looking around, and I scanned with AVG anti spyware, as well as msconfig cleaner and CCleaner. I really need some help here.
 
your log looks fine


why dont you run ccleaner and cleanup! and see what happens. The programs are in my guide
 
ive had that before and it endup up being a virus. I had spysweeper and pc-cillin runnin on that computer so i assume one of those cleaned it up.

I think a variation of dyfuca caused it for me. But try runnin msconfig and disabling any odd startup items u dont need and services - Use administrative tools-services for services so you can view their discriptions. See if the problem still occurs in safe mode. Don't worry about the pc-cillin if you dont have it-i dont think it will fix it.
 
do you think any of the programs I have are conflicting with windows or each other???
 
dunno liutilities.com is good for looking up info. on processes. Did u run spysweeper and all of that in safe mode?
