cant detect harddisk

my friend hardisk got bad sector, so i ran HDD to repair his hardisk. I let the m/c run whole night...
The next day i woke up, i found that the m/c already hang with some sound from hardisk. It also shown that it found 4k+ bad sector & only managed to repair 200+.
So i terminate the process then restart m/c. After that the bios coudlnt detect the hardisk...
Is there any other way for me to detect & access the hardisk to retrieve some file on the partition ?

try using this program - recover my files..... i used it on my old laptop hdd, which had tons of bad sectors + was formatted...and with it i was able to recover the data i wanted that i though id lose forever.
