Pre-Build Review, PleaseÂ…Â…Â….

Hi Guys,

I’ve moved this discussion from the “Which AMD CPU” thread below, because you have educated me into a Core 2 Intel instead….lol. As mentioned earlier, I have already bought the case, PSU, DVD, HDD etc, now for the major $tuff….:

The video card is just to get by for a while until I decide on a final oneÂ….a friendÂ’s daughter-in-law is a sales rep for Nvidia, and can prolly get me an employee deal on a good card but I have to decide which one (and first get my property tax paidÂ….lol)Â…..

Any advice or comments appreciated before I pull the trigger!

If you plan on going with NVIDIA later, go with NVIDIA now. It'll save you the headache of having to clean out ATI's drivers later.

Look for a 6800 card or so, like this one:

ya I would agree with trotter. Just to make life easeir when it comes time for a monster card.

Another idea for a video card is get a motherboard with onboard video. Such as this one.

'Tis only $9 more than your current selection. It'll get you going in terms of gaming. Just don't expect to play Oblivion at max settings or anything

EDIT: Now that I look into it a little more, this onboard video will perform close to the X550.
