the 7900gs

so i was looking at some gaming benchmarks and i saw that the 7900gs only had a few less than 7900gt

my question is how good is this card

is it worth getting a GT version

it's the scaled down version... that's all... but yes the price difference is noticable. If you know what your doing and can do some modding, you can unlock the pipes, and OC the GS to GT specs... I'm into budget... So my take on it... get the GS

depending on what settings you have and what games you play I would honestly say not much difference... it'll depend on what you want out of your games? do you want to faster frame rates and worried about how many FPS your getting? or are you into the game itself and not what the background and fine detail looks like?

the GT for the FPS and the GS for the med/high settings

both are good... so don't think anything's wrong... do some searching and look at the reviews for the cards? Tom's Hardware did some decent reviews on them both... do a search on there for the articles...

Be sure to check out the x1950PRO too before you buy anything at least. I remember seeing some good reviews about how it was sometimes better than the 7900GS, so it's worth looking into. I own a Sapphire x1950PRO.
