The parts I don't show are things I already have like RAM( 1 gb), disc drive and primary hard drive. (All these items are from newegg.)

ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard

Rosewill TU-155 Black 0.8mm SGCC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 400W(20+4 pin) Power Supply

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

APEX AL-B500E ATX 500W Aluminum Power Supply

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester 2.2GHz Socket 939 Processor Model ADA4200BVBOX - Retail

XFX PVT73GUGE3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

These might not be the best items according to some of the people here but it's WAY better than what I have now...

AMD Sempron 5200+
1 gb of RAM
GeForce FX 5200
80gb hard drive
not sure about the mobo
and a crappy looking case...

Can I have some suggestions on a better build or is this the best I can get for $700?

wups i just noticed I posted in the wrong subject.... sry bout that...

its all good, i would say this is a high performance upgrade from what you have.

if you don't mind putting in more money you can get a 7900gt for 230 dollars

alright I'll put in a couple of extra bucks to get 7900. Do you think it will last throughout the year with games upgrading so quickly though?

well dx10 is coming out very soon, if you don't care about it the card will do fine...

otherwise wait for january/february to get a lower end 8 series
