Personally, I would recommend Spybot: Search and Destroy. It is an excellent free product.

I prefer it over Ad-Aware. Just my opinion.

Well, it turns out the situation was worse than I had hoped... I was hoping the slowness was due spyware, but instead it is due to a failing hard drive. Luckily Newegg is freaking awesome and is RMA'ing a 7 month old drive for me.

Just what I needed 3 weeks before finals...

Overkill? Maybe... my system is as clean as a whistle tho.

I ran a scan with two of them and the only things that turned up were ordinary cookie trackers that wouldnt slow a system down like mine was.
It turned out to be a dying hard drive. I was getting the Western Digital "click of death".
Thanks for all of the suggestions though. I'll be hanging on to a couple of them for the future.
