DVD roms keep showing up as CD-rom and won't work

Appearantly my DVD-RW Drive, and DVD-rom drive keep showing up in my computer as CD-ROM.. So i go into hardware manager and they both said their appropriate model # however they had SCSI CD-rom tacked onto them..

Uninstalling and rebooting fixes the problem for one reboot but.. Any idea as to what is causing it? .. It has survived 3 clean reinstalls. seems to have started after an autoupdate hotfix but I can't find any leads to track it down as to which one..

maybe try flashing the bios/ not sure if it would work but for some reason your system thinks its a scuzzi device so flashing the bios and updating it to a more recent ver. might help
