BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTX & 8800 GTS
If you only have time to read one G80 review today, make sure it is our evaluation of the BFGTech GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS. YouÂ’ll be glad you did! Also, be sure to Digg it if you dig it! Stop by the forums and leave your thoughts and comments here.

The day has finally arrived, the first DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 graphics hardware is here and NVIDIA is the first out of the gate. And this happens to be another hard-launch as we have come to expect from NVIDIA and its partners! Not only is NVIDIA introducing new hardware but it is a totally new architecture that was built with completely new ideas for supporting the next DirectX version.

very interesting ideas.

One thing that I love especially, is that they can control each individual streaming processor to do a specific task, it seems such an obvious way to make it more efficient now that I've heard of it, yet for 20 years everyone has been building on the same old 'pipeline' architecture.

The streaming processors are just another dedicated device, like a PhsyX card is, taking responsibility for one specialised task, and leaving the CPU for other things. In the future, I guess CPU performance won't be such a problem, because a lot of special tasks will have their own dedicated device to make it more speedy.

Maybe one day they'll change GPU to mean General processing unit, instead of graphics processing unit because of all the extra stuff they can and will be able to be used for :p

8800GTX gets 2 big thumbs up from me, kudos to everyone involved in producing it -- while patiently waiting for ATi to show us what they've got :)
