Alright now I tried researching and read the stickies, but I am really new to building computers. My parents have always bought Dell's and I'm not going that route with my new computer. Ok so right now im in college(Purdue....incase any of you here go there by chance) and i have a laptop. Its a Sony SZ series and its pretty good. I can kind of game ok with it, but it seems to get hot sometimes while playing bf2. Alright now this is where the new desktop comes in because I'm majoring in engineering and in a couple years i might want to have some of the engineering programs for myself and run them on desktop. But until that point i was thinking of just getting a sort of budget gaming pc for about $1,000 that later on i could either upgrade or be able to run engineering programs. Now since i already have a laptop for school things and pretty much everything.....i just want the desktop for gaming purposes. http://www.firingsquad.com/guides/building_budget_gaming_pc/
i was reading this and it seems to be good....although im not too sure since i dont know much about computers. So i dont know if i should build off that list or just try and make my own from your input. Sorry for such a noob question, but trying to research everything without knowing about computers was just to confusing. Thanks in advanced.

That article is out dated so it won't help you right now.

Are you spending $1000 on the computer itself? You should decide on the LCD and keyboard... then give a total to spend on the computer itself.

Is there something I should look for when buying a monitor? Should i just pick what ever like at Best Buy or should i actually be looking at stuff? Sorry for all the questions that im sure are really simple. Thanks

Ok that one looks good. Now i can figure out the keyboard thats fine. Now for everything else i wanna try and keep it around $1,000. So a total around $1,200 or so. Thanks

Have a look here to start. A lot of other people have come on here to request a gaming build for about the same price, so you should be able to find a recent one that works.

If that doesn't answer your questions, nor does anyone else, PM me to remind me of this thread, and I'll pop in to figure something out for you:D
