problem with sound

OK, i am having a weird issue with sound when playing music or movies. whenever i am listening to a song and pause then unpause the song. all i hear is that static high pitch gargle noise. then the weird thing is when i repause that weird noise then unpause it again it goes back to playing normal. I just noticed it but it could have been happening for a while but i just never paused anything.

I have the latest soundmax drivers installed and it is onboard sound.

Edit: so far i have noticed it in windows media player and Foobar

Sounds like a driver problem, have you tried rolling back to your previous drivers?

Yeah, and I even tried reinstalling the newer ones again. Its not a big deal to me, but its just kinda weird.
