hi, i am building a new computer for my brother. he will be mostly be gaming and also be using it as a HTPC. this is going to be my first build so i am a bit scared but my brother says he trusts me. these are the things that i want to buy as of now. please some one critique my choices and recomend me something new if u feel it is bad. my main problem is that i couldnt choose a motherboard and memory. but brother will be upgrading into SLI so i will need a SLI capable motherboard, and for the memory, i would like 2 gig (2 x 2 gig). so if some one can recommend a motherboard up to $150 and 2 gig memory up to $200-250, that would be awesome. i have more concerns though. i am planning on getting the core 2 duo 2.13 ghz but i am not sure if that is the right choice or should i go for the 2.4 ghz. i am not into overclocking and will not overclock until i learn how to, so is the 2.4ghz worth that much money right now?
more questions--how is the powersupply, any other recomendations on that same price range. what about the video card- anything better for the same price.
i would have waited for the dx 10 cards but i will not be able to afford them when they initially come out. my budget is very very tight and i am not willing to spend more then 1000-1300 dollars on the box itself. the cheaper the better. one more thing before i shut up, i wont be upgrading after this purchase more atleast more that a year, so please u guys help me choose good parts that will last me atleast a year at the lastest without upgrading and play most of the new games. one last thing-hows the tv tuner, any other options on my systerm?
thanks and sorry for the humangous post
