I'm planning on only getting 1GB stick of RAM right now, and getting another stick later on. Also I do plan on doing some overclocking, maybe later on I will get an aftermarket HSF so I can oc better. If you have any constructive criticism it would be appreciated. Thanks.

The Intel P965 chipset is extremely picky with DDR2 800 RAM. They really only like 1.8v RAM.

I'd get this Kingston RAM, it may not overclock much, but it will work nicely.

ive got the same ram except the 2gb kit and it booted up fine on my p5b deluxe.

some ppl were saying it wouldn't boot up with my mobo and you had to get a cheap ddr2 ram that was set for 1.8v to set the bois correctly to handle 2.1v for the g.skill ram.

but myn booted up fine the first time with the old bios(0507). But the p5b vinilla might be different.

But if you want to oc, try to go for the deluxe version. It Ocs like a champ with the e6600 and g.skill d9 chips :)

If you plan on overclocking I wouldnt get the P5B vanilla. I'd go with the gigabyte DS3, though you might run into memory compatibility issues/

I'm not planning on ocing like crazy. Just a little extra. Plus I'm pretty sure those boards are out of my price range, but I'll look at them in the morning.

the p5b vanilla will give you a good oc but if you can, go with the gigabyte ds3. the p5b deluxe, gigabyte ds3, and asus pw5 deluxe have been proven to be the most popular ocing boards for the conroes
