perhaps because of it's insane design using essentially two seperate cards with an integrated SLI link and controller? any multiple-gpu solution will naturally cost both more to manufacture and to the consumer than a single gpu system, regardless of power.
edit: i can write a guide if necessary but i'll leave it for a little while. mainly because myself and god have a bet to see whether or not common sense will prevail on these sorts of issues. i say no but god still has faith in our species
