First of all, does the mhz on a stick of ram really matter. I would think 2 gigs of ram is 2 gigs no matter its upload speed.

is that motherboard worth it, I found no issues in the specs but considering I am not as versed in technology as other people on this forum I was hoping to get a more intellegent opinion.

now.. weighing AMD vs Intel, which would you perfer. They seem to be equal in Ghz but the AMD dual cores have a 2000 mhz fsb and a 1 mb cache while the intels have 1066 mhz fsb and 2 mb cache. I am refering to the Intel Core Duo 775 sockets and the AMD AM2 X2.

Refering to the motherboard I posted earlier, if you do recommend AMD over Intel could you direct me to a mobo worthy of a AM2 processor?

Yes, the mhz on ram does matter, that is the speed the ram will run at ,while the 2gigs is like the storage capicity.

Go with an intel core 2 duo if you can.

couple more questions. does the PC on a stick of ram matter? For instance ther are pc 5400, 6400, 8000 and otherwise.

cant remember the other question :mad:

The PC part tells you the theoretical bandwith.

PC-1600 --->1.6 GByte/s bandwidth
PC-3200 ---> 3.2 GByte/s bandwidth
PC2-6400 ----> 6.4 GB/s bandwidth

DDR-200 operate at 100 MHz = PC-1600
DDR-266 operate at 133 MHz = PC-2100
DDR-333 operate at 166 MHz = PC-2700
DDR-400 operate at 200 MHz = PC-3200

DDR2-400: run at 100 MHz, I/O clock at 200 MHz = PC2-3200
DDR2-533: run at 133 MHz, I/O clock at 266 MHz = PC2-4200
DDR2-667: run at 166 MHz, I/O clock at 333 MHz = PC2-5400
DDR2-800: run at 200 MHz, I/O clock at 400 MHz = PC2-6400

my dad has that board with a intel 945 dual core and 2 gigs of DDR@ 667 RAM, and it has had no issuse and has been very good ot him.

seems ike a decent budget board
